A website should reflect the organisation behind it, who they are today, what they offer and the people they serve.
That was the focus behind the recent website redesign for Ards Chamber of Trade.
The existing website had served the Chamber for a number of years, but as the organisation had developed, its online presence needed to evolve too.
The Challenge
The previous website was relatively simple, with limited navigation and much of the key information contained on a single page.

While visitors could find basic information about the Chamber and membership, there was an opportunity to make the website work much harder for the organisation.
The new site needed to:
- Create a stronger, more modern first impression
- Better reflect the Chamber’s current branding
- Clearly explain who the Chamber is and what it does
- Make membership information easier to find
- Promote news, events and activities
- Showcase the Ards Business Awards
- Make it easier for local businesses to engage with the Chamber
- Work effectively across desktop, tablet and mobile
The Website Redesign
The transformation is probably clearest when you look at the before and after.

The new homepage uses strong local imagery, updated branding and a much clearer message:
Engage. Empower. Represent.
Rather than simply presenting information, the website now immediately communicates the Chamber’s role as a voice for businesses in Newtownards and across the Ards Peninsula.
Clear calls to action, including Join the Chamber and Learn More, help guide visitors towards their next step.
A Clearer Website Structure
One of the biggest improvements was expanding the website beyond the previous Home and Contact structure.
The new navigation includes dedicated areas for:
Home | About Us | Membership | News & Events | Awards | Contact Us
This makes it much easier for different audiences to find the information that’s relevant to them, while also giving the Chamber room to regularly add new content and keep the website active.
Designed to Support the Chamber’s Growth
This wasn’t simply about giving the website a new look.
The aim was to create a more useful digital platform that can grow alongside the Chamber.
With dedicated areas for membership, events, news and awards, the website can now play a much bigger role in promoting the Chamber’s work, attracting new members and showcasing the businesses and activities taking place across the local area.
The Result
The difference between the old and new websites is significant. The Chamber now has a professional, modern WordPress website that better represents the organisation it is today and gives visitors a much clearer journey through its services and activities.
For me, that’s what a successful website redesign should achieve. It’s not about changing a website simply because it looks dated. It’s about making sure your online presence still represents your business or organisation and supports where you want to go next.
Does your website still represent the business you are today?
